It was with a wonderful combination of joy and sadness that I visited the Art for the People Gallery on Sunday to take down and pack up my art. The experience was uplifting and educational. The turnout for the opening reception and Full Moons Celebration was surprising and delightful. Selling stuff was kinda fun too. Now it's done. All of my thanks to the ladies of AFTPGallery: Deanna, Lynnie, Meg, and Hallie Rae.
One to the next thing(s).
In October I'm participating in the Conception Contemporary Art Show. This one does have tickets (http://conceptionarts.com/event/27667802141), but they're not very expensive and you'll get to see a remarkable assortment of artists and their works. It's one day only on October 22 (yes, just around the corner) at Adelbert's Brewery, 2314 Rutland Drive. You can get your tickets here: http://conceptionarts.com/artist/GeyC9wKkvq. It's on from 5pm to 10pm and should be a lot of fun.
Then in November I'll be participating in the East Austin Studio Tour. I'm number 42. Yes, really. Number 42. If that doesn't make you chuckle, you must not have read "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Anyway, it is being held on two weekends in November - 12/13 and 19/20. I'm sharing space with a talented and diverse group of artists at the Conscious Creative Hub on Gunter Street. No tickets for this one, just gas and shoe leather. If you've never done the Tour, it's great fun. You should start on Gunter Street, of course. ;) It's right off Airport just north of Springdale Road on the east side of the road. If you find Gunter, you should see our signs and the cars parked there.
In the midst of this, I have completed the work I needed to do (speaking and presenting and teaching) to receive my Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America. The big convention - ImagingUSA - will be held in San Antonio in January. I'll go up on stage to receive my degree, as well as getting recognized as a Bronze Photographer of the Year for submitting four images and having all four merit (be judged as well above average).
This has been and continues to be a glorious and exciting year for me photographically.
I hope I'll get to see you at Conception or East Austin (or both).
